MAD Business Award – Food Innovation

MAD Ventures is looking for an outstanding Australian company that is bringing exceptional innovation to the Food sector.

This competitive award is designed to:

  • Support entrepreneurs & innovators addressing the global problem of food security

  • Support the development or commercialisation of a product that can drive Australian food exports and/or food technology particularly to the Asian region.

The MAD Business Award – Food Innovation - will recognise:

Innovation through product development, enhancement or commercialisation in the food sector within Australia. Businesses that are actively enhancing Australia’s regional and global role in solving food security.

The entry criteria will include:

  • Is your business in the food sector in Australia?

  • Are you an early-stage high growth business?

  • Is your business designed for high scale and to operate or export globally?

  • Are you preparing to scale your business nationally and internationally?

  • Do you have existing revenue and are you preparing your business for growth and scale?

  • Do you have an intention of taking your business and/or exploring into the Asian markets?

  • Do you require funding for a project that is innovative and enhancing Australia’s ability to produce food efficiently, sustainably for Australia and regional export?

  • Have you received any funding from private or government sources?

The first-place winner will receive:

  • A grant of AUD$50,000.00 (sponsored by ACFEA) to assist with a specific project that enhances, improves or commercialises your product/s

  • An in-depth review and analysis of your business by MAD Ventures utilising the MAD Venture Compass assessment process that will assist with your ongoing capital strategy and funding requirements

  • 6 x monthly mentoring calls with the Managing Partners of the MAD Hyperscalers Fund 1 to help you get investor ready

  • The potential for MAD to invest in your business (up to $10m*) from the MAD Hyperscalers Fund 1 (*investment will be subject to your company meeting the MAD Hyperscalers Fund 1 investment requirements and mandate)

Rules and Conditions

  • An applicant Company / Business must be an Australian entity

  • A panel of judges will review the applications and will evaluate them based on the entry criteria and response to the Venture Compass questions

  • The Judges decision is final

  • The Award will be announced to the winner via email and the announcement will be followed by a zoom call which will be recorded and used for future marketing and promotion of the MAD Business Awards

  • The winner will automatically be entered into the annual MAD Business Awards

  • Details of your application may be provided to the sponsor of this event for future marketing purposes

  • Entries cannot be submitted by related parties to MAD or the judges
